I like Jack's new blog. It does a great job of highlighting his high-quality photos and packages them within a theme. I could see this leading to assignments or him offing up new images for clients to license before being offered up for a stock outlet distribution. John Lund's blog fits in this category as well.

Well, Jack has a long career of success. I understand he is currently offline because he is traveling to Boston to produce new work. In defense of Jack - I guess you could lump me in the same category as "new media photographer" - Some people are compelled to share what they know. Social media is a great platform share.

I don't think Jack's blog alone will resurrect his stock career - the photography business has changed for all of us. But, I think the blog is well done and is a good example of how a photographer can use words and their imagery together to promote their work.

This is the funny thing about this: I know @photojack on twitter and his real name even has name recognition for me, yet I've never felt compelled to look at his website and have never put his name with a single image he's made. So while he seems to be taking twitter by storm, has he really come up with an effective marketing solution for somebody who wants to earn a living as a PHOTOGRAPHER. As someone who hires and buys from photographers, having this strong of a showing in social media actually turns me off. It's like those photographers who spend most of their time marketing to and trying to gain recognition from other photographers rather producing new work. I see @photojack and I think about those guys who write books about marketing photographs and magazine articles about using filters, not someone who I want to hire for my next campaign. I wonder where the balance is.
